In a notable step forward for structural health monitoring integration trials, TOSCA partners have successfully completed automated sensor placement trials at the Addcomposites facility in Finland. The trials validated a novel approach enabling the fiber placement head to automatically position sensors during the layup process. This capability opens new possibilities for embedding sensing functionality directly into composite structures, supporting the project’s vision of smart, digitally-enabled manufacturing.
