Within the TOSCA project, AIMEN is advancing the development of resistance
welding through multiple innovative approaches. The research not only focuses on
process control and automation, but also explores the creation of novel heating
materials that generate heat through the Joule effect and the first results are already
showing great potential.
For the first time, heating elements manufactured using Fused Filament Fabrication
(FFF) have been successfully produced and demonstrated their capability to join
high-performance thermoplastic laminates. These achievements pave the way for
greater flexibility, customization, and automation in resistance welding processes.
In parallel, AIMEN has also developed vitrimer-based heating elements, now ready
for testing and optimization in the welding of vitrimer laminates.
After just one year since its launch, TOSCA is already delivering promising results —
so stay tuned for the next developments!
