Part Design

ÉireComposites has completed the demonstrator designs for both use cases which will be used to demonstrate and test the technology developed in this project.

Use case 1 features a simplified section of an eVTOL (electric Vertical Take Off and Land) drone cowling featuring an internal stringer, while use case 2 features a drone rudder section including an internal bulkhead. The individual parts are designed to be laid up using AFP (Automated Fiber Placement) and then joined together using either resistance or induction welding techniques.

The designs are based on existing drone structures, with the section sizes large enough to allow repairs to be conducted on. With the designs finished, FIDAMC and Addcomposites can begin designing the tooling required to enable integration into the AFP process.
